Religious Stupidity

The pastor of a small controversial congregation in Florida has sparked a lot of attention due to his plan to burn Qurans on the anniversary of 9/11. The act has sparked condemnation from Christian and political leaders. General David Petraeus warned that the event would inflame relations in Afghanistan and elsewhere and endanger U.S. troops. Similarly, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton condemned it as a "disrespectful, disgraceful act." Leo Frade, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Southeast Florida, wrote a critique of the planned event, calling it "an act of intolerance and religious stupidity." He added:
I want to assure the followers of Islam here and around the world that the planned actions of the Dove Center do not represent the true values and beliefs of the followers of Jesus Christ, who tells us that the greatest commandment is love.
Amen! It is unfortunate that a small group can do something so stupid and unchristian that will hurt the presentation of the gospel and put people's lives at risk. If only this pastor would For God's Sake, Shut Up! (and put the matches down).
