I recently read the book Flickering Pixels by Shane Hipps. The subtitle of the book is How Technology Shapes Your Faith. It is a fantastic book that makes you seriously consider aspects of faith in our electronic era. Hipps applies the work of influential media scholar Marshall McLuhan. Having studied McLuhan, I really appreciated that someone considered the theological implications of such teachings like "the medium is the message." But Hipps summarizes McLuhan very well so that you can understand Flickering Pixels without having read McLuhan. A main warning of the book is how electronic mediums like TVs, computers, and cell phones are changing our lives, often in bad ways that we might not even be noticing. Since I was reading an electronic version of the book, I was extra convicted throughout the book!
