A street preacher was arrested after hitting a police officer with a Bible. I thought we were supposed to teach people about God's word, not hit them with it. The preacher, James Decker, claims his religious and civil rights were violated because the police officer told him to move during a street sermon. The officer explained that he was not attacking the preacher's message but trying to get him to stand in the grass and not on the highway. This is just ridiculous! It is no wonder this guy was preaching on the street because it should be hard to find a church that would put up with a guy like this. Stories like this should make it clear why I critiqued street preachers in my book (For God's Sake, Shut Up!: Lessons for Christians on How to Speak Effectively and When to Remain Silent).
This makes me think of the movie "Saved:" "this is NOT a weapon!"
