Not a Parody

While reading an article in The Church Report I was sure it must be a parody site with fake articles. Maybe, I thought, it was like a Christian “The Colbert Report,” where everything was actually being said in a tongue-in-cheek manner. However, I was saddened to realize that this article is intended to be serious.

Jason T. Christy wrote a column attacking David Kuo, author of Tempting Faith. Kuo argues that the Bush administration used Christians by praising them to their faces but making fun of them behind their backs. Christy does not believe the charges could have any truth in them.

However, the real problem is not his closed-mindedness, but rather his over-the-top and un-Christ-like attacks. The title of the article starts things off in the gutter—“David Kuo: An Addition to the Axis of Evil.” Seriously? If this was comedy it would be a bad joke. Instead, it is reprehensive and completely unethical.

After writing that Kuo claimed that White House individuals called evangelicals “nuts, goofy and boorish,” Christy retorts, “Perhaps, Kuo should take a closer look in the mirror.” Oooh, what a comeback! “I know you are but what am I? I’m rubber you’re glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you.” Why does this column seem like a bad flashback to middle-school.

Ironically, Christy ends the article by writing, “David Kuo forgot one important lesson: Judge not lest ye be judged.” Hmmm, isn’t Christy judging Kuo? So how can he get on to Kuo for judging? Maybe Christy would be better off doing comedy. Or, maybe he should leave the politics alone and work on reporting on issues that will actually help churches

Thank the Lord for David Kuo. He has the courage to speak the truth about the liars, warmongers, and pedophiles infesting the Whitehouse.

  2. Thanks for the comment and for the link. Hopefully, Christians will be willing to actually listen to Kuo’s experiences.
