Today the Boston Globe profiled Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback and author of The Purpose Driven Life. Pastor rivets many without politics - The Boston Globe Here's a couple of comments Warren made that stood out:
"I'm not trying to legislate change. ...If I thought that legislation could change the culture, I'd become a politician. But I don't believe it can."
''There's an old style of Christian leadership and a new style of Christian leadership. ...The old style tends to be more confrontational, and that's just not my style."
Look at that--a preacher that just tries to preach about the love of Jesus! Warren tries to stay out of politics and avoid the confrontational style that often drives many people away. No wonder he's called "America's Pastor."
