My latest academic publication came out recently. It is a chapter in the book The Daily Show and Rhetoric: Arguments, Issues, and Strategies. My chapter ("Modern Hebrew prophets: The Daily Show and religious satire") tests a claim by Jim Wallis that Stewart is like the Hebrew prophets as he uses humor and truth-telling. Drawing upon the work of Walter Brueggemann, I analyzed the religious jokes from the program and argue that they do embody what Brueggemann calls the prophetic imagination.
