Religion and Confessional Politics

This afternoon I will be the guest on WMRA's "Virginia Insight" radio program to talk about issues related to my new book (Presidential Campaign Rhetoric in an Age of Confessional Politics). Here is WMRA's description of the program:
Religion and Confessional Politics

You recognize the names of famous presidents such as Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson or Dwight Eisenhower. But how much do you know about their religion?

How about of the religion of more recent presidents such as Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush or Barack Obama?

In his new book, a Baptist minister turned scholar says there is good reason why religion has become a big part of modern politics. We examine his theory that this development is NOT a good thing.
You can listen live on WRMA or online here this afternoon from 3-4 pm ET.

Earlier this week, Howard M. Friedman, Professor of Law Emeritus at the University of Toledo, listed my book as one of the recent "books of interest" on his blog "Religion Clause." Friedman does a great job of covering news and legal cases involving religious liberty.

Also this week, the January issue of Church & State magazine quoted from an Ethics Daily article I wrote in November about a meeting of conservative Christian leaders working to defeat President Barack Obama in 2012. The confessional political style seems to be continuing as we enter the next presidential campaign cycle.
