There has been a lot of attention the past week to the new law in Arizona that encourages racial profiling. Numerous politicians in both parties have denounced the law, as have Christian leaders. A couple of years ago I wrote a column for Ethics Daily entitled "Immigration IS a Social Issue." In it, I argued that "how we treat our neighbors from south of the border are moral, social decisions." Today, there were rallies across the country protesting the Arizona law and urging immigration reform. Hopefully, the controversy will spark Christians to give thoughtful consideration to immigration issues and how we should respond.
