Yesterday was World Malaria Day, which is designed to draw attention to the preventable deaths that occur because of this disease. On average, a child in Africa dies every thirty seconds from malaria, killing more than 1 million each year. However, treated nets can reduce transmission of the disease by 90 percent. One organization doing great work in this area is His Nets. For just $6 they distribute a treated family-sized net, each of which saves an estimated two lives. The founder of His Nets is featured in the documentary Different Books, Common Word that recently aired on ABC stations.
