Recently I read The Myth of a Christian Religion by Gregory A. Boyd. The subtitle of the book is Losing Your Religion for the Beauty of a Revolution. It is an excellent and though-provoking book. The book is an effort to get Christians to think about the heart of the Gospel by stripping away the cultural additions that we have incorporated into our religious traditions and beliefs even though they are often contradictory to biblical teachings. Boyd looks at issues like nationalism, violence, racism, and greed. Like Boyd's book before this one (The Myth of a Christian Nation), this is a good book that challenges us to think carefully about how our lives.
