Wiley Drake, the foot-in-mouth pastor from Buena Park, is now claiming that Rick Warren will be punished by God for praying at Barack Obama's inauguration. This while Drake is suing to prevent Obama from becoming president because Drake--who was the vice presidential candidate on a ticket with Alan Keyes--claims that Obama was not born in the U.S. Drake attacked Warren for the "plan to invoke the presence of almighty God on this evil illegal alien." Drake also claimed that Warren is "hurting our denomination, and the Lord's work." Yet, it is Drake who pushed the Disney boycott, has in the past had ties to the Unification Church, reportedly supported a man who killed an abortion doctor, and was investigated by the IRS and "prayerfully" called for the deaths of leaders of Americans United. Clearly, the problem is not Warren, but Drake.
Perhaps it is time for Drake to read Romans 13 and 1 Timothy 2 about showing respect for and praying for our leaders. Drake, after all, has strongly pushed the Presidential Prayer Team during George W. Bush's presidency. Apparently for Drake, the Bible's commands only apply when he agrees with the vote. If God was as vengeful as Drake seems to believe, Drake would be in trouble for violating the scriptural commands to pray for his nation's leaders. So, Drake should be glad he is wrong.
