Racism DVD Wins Award

Racism DVD Wins Award
The new DVD by Ethics Daily won the award for best documentary at the International Black Film Festival of Nashville. Called "Beneath the Skin: Baptists and Racism," the DVD looks at past problems and successes in dealing with racism and how churches can lead the way in the future. Those interviewed include Will Campbell, Emmanuel McCall, Alan Stanford, Jim Hill, Miguel A. De La Torre, Joseph Phelps, James Stallings, and Marilyn Turner. Congrats to Cliff Vaughn and Robert Parham for the recognition of their excellent work!

You can buy the DVD here. You can also watch a few clips from the DVD. The most moving one for me was the one with reactions about the slavery repentance service in Ghana that was held by the Baptist World Alliance. I am excited that the Baptist General Convention of Missouri was among the organizations that supported this effort and that BGCM executive director Jim Hill offered his thoughts for the project. Other excellent DVDs by Ethics Daily have included "Golden Rule Politics," "Always Therefore," and "The Nazareth Manifesto." The BGCM helped support the latter two and gave away copies to Missouri Baptist churches. Both were spoken of highly by pastors. I hope the new DVD will spark dialogue and action on confronting racism.
