Ethics Daily ran my latest article today, which is entitled "Church Leaders Seek Apology to Darwin." It looks at comments by a Church of England leader, as well as historic Christian responses to Darwin and contemporary reactions to the suggestion that the Church of England apologize to Darwin. Clearly, evolution continues to be a divisive issue among Christians nearly 150 years after Darwin's The Origin of Species.
Brian,
ReplyDeleteYour article is well-written.
I wonder what Brown and these guys think would be Darwin's reaction, and if they've personally apologized already?
Symbolism over substance--a characteristic of true liberalism.
Thanks! I do think there is something to be said for symbolic gestures (although the more it can be backed up with substance, the better). However, in this case it almost seems to be too specific to be of much good. If they want to apologize, they should consider giving one to scientists in general rather than just to Darwin.
