Religion Dispatches ran my latest column today. It is entitled "Stop Playing Politics with Prayer" and deals with a state constitutional amendment on prayer being considered in Missouri. In it I argue that it seems some Missouri legislators are using prayer for political purposes, which is very troubling to see. I hope that Christians will not stand for this type of political misuse of a sacred act and instead reject the unnecessary proposed amendment.

Thanks! I do not know if we can get the politicians to stop politicizing everything, including the sacred, but hopefully Christians will not support such actions.
