Televangelist Pat Robertson wants to buy a local newspaper. He is apparently considering trying to buy The Virginian-Pilot, which he has criticized in the past for reporting on his outlandish remarks. I hope for God's sake--and the sake of the community--that they will not accept his offer. The last thing they need is the 700-clubization of the news and a censoring of all pieces that Robertson does not like. It could be worse, though. Apparently the same company is also selling The Weather Channel, but Robertson does not think he can afford that media outlet. Given his past desire to assign divine retribution to weather events, one can only imagine how crazy things would have gotten. "Today God is shining gloriously upon the midwest, raining justice upon the south, and heaping frozen judgment upon the northeast. Tomorrow's forecast calls for a fifty percent chance of wrath."
