The Associated Baptist Press has an article today about the recent meeting of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty. During the meeting, the Baptist General Convention of Missouri was accepted as a full member. The ABP story quotes BGCM executive director Jim Hill:
The Baptist Joint Committee exists to support causes that the Missouri Baptist Convention no longer supports or encourages, and there are still many Baptists [in Missouri] who want to be Baptists and still want to be part of the process of advocacy for religious liberty. This is an exciting and important new relationship for the BGCM as we strive to support historic Baptist beliefs like religious liberty.
