The SBC in the Order of the Phoenix

With the newest Harry Potter movie (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) opening today, I thought of a column I wrote a few years ago. At about the same time as the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting in 2003 (which was held in Phoenix), the book that is now a movie came out. The piece is entitled "The SBC in the Order of the Phoenix." Although I had not (nor have not) read or watched any of Harry Potter, my roommate at the time was a big fan and he filled me in on important plot details. The piece was my reflection on that year's meeting (the last one I have attended), but many of the conclusions are still relevant.
