Exiled

Exiled
Yesterday I finished reading Exiled: Voices of the Southern Baptist Convention Holy War. Edited by Carl Kell, it includes a few dozen essays by various Baptist ministers and leaders. I had wanted to read through this for some time, and finally got it recently. It is a very good read that made me think about a lot of issues related to denominational life and Christian behavior. The book is a follow-up to an earlier work by Kell and Raymond Camp (In the Name of the Father: The Rhetoric of the New Southern Baptist Convention), and a third volume is supposed to come out in the future.

Another exciting aspect was discovering that I know a couple of the essayist. In particular, I enjoyed reading the thoughts of Dr. Michael K. Olmsted, who has probably taught me more about what it means to be a minister than anyone else except my grandfather.
