Ethics Daily ran my latest column today, which is entitled “Great Power, Great Responsibility.” In it I critique recent columns by Vision America leader Rick Scarborough and Eagle Forum leader Phyllis Schlafly. They wrote the columns to support two border patrol agents who shot an unarmed man and tried to cover it up. I argue that such support is misplaced and demonstrates that the two Christian leaders have not lived up to their responsibility.
Ethics Daily also has an interesting piece today about scientists who have challenged ExxonMobil for funding groups that are putting out (mis)information about global warming. This is an important issue that should concern Christians since we are supposed to be followers of “the Truth.” At the end of the piece is a link to a previous article I wrote for Ethics Daily where I exposed signers of a statement denying global warming for receiving money from ExxonMobil. What made that statement so significant was that it was released by the Interfaith Stewardship Alliance and argued that Christians should not work to reduce global warming. It is another sad tale of Christian leaders not living up to their responsibility.
