The Gospel According to Rick Scarborough

Ethics Daily has run a couple pieces this week on the Reverend Rick Scarborough, founder and president of Vision America. Scarborough's organization hosted the "War on Christians and the Values Voter" conference a couple weeks ago, where embattled Republican politician Tom DeLay spoke a few days before announcing his retirement from Congress.

Yesterday Ethics Daily ran a piece on Scarborough by Britt Towery, who used to know him. Today, Ethics Daily ran a column I wrote that takes a tongue-in-cheek look at some of Scarborough's recent statements and theology.

Both pieces hopefully work to urge Christians not to follow the example of Scarborough. We need to focus on sharing the love of Jesus, not trying to gain political power.

    The Gospel of Hate
We're Exposing Vision America and Rev. Rick Scarborough of Lufkin, Texas.

He wants you to : bring a gun to church, homeschool the kids, convert the gays or kill them, fly that flag, remove "activist judges" from office, rally behind his best friend Tom Delay -the Texas Congressman turned theif who lives with Ms. Delay who he pimps out to Jack Abramoff, boycott Planned Parenthood, run for office, bring God back into the classroom, and a lot of other scary ideas.

Don't pay more than 0.36 for a used Amazon.com copy of any of his poorly written books full of lies and hate.

We agree, "For God's Sake Shut Up! Why not begin NOW.
