Watch Your Words

A couple of former Thomas Kinkade Gallery owners won a lawsuit against the parent company of Kinkade's paintings. The ruling pointed out the language the company used to create "a certain religious environment designed to instill a special relationship of trust. ... Media Arts through its agents Thomas Kinkade, Ken Raasch and Barnett, in particular, held itself out to be acting on a higher plain." It also noted the frequent use of the words "partner," "trust," "Christian," and "God."


Here is a warning about the language we use. If we are not careful we might not only miscommunicate or mislead people, but we could actually get into a lot of trouble. It is especially important to not
(mis)use religious language for personal gain.
