Here's another misguided pastor doing more harm than good in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Pastor's sign rubs salt in wounds of downtrodden
Apparently Wiley Bennett, pastor of Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas placed a sign in front of his church after several thousand evacuees showed up in Tyler.
The sign read: "THE BIG EASY IS THE MODERN DAY SODOM AND GOMORRAH."
Several evacuees asked him to remove it, but he refused. Then vandals knocked part of it down and he still refused to take it down. In addition to declaring that "New Orleans is a wicked city," Bennett also claimed, "Regardless of what you believe, poor people are wicked, also."
Religion writer Cathleen Falsani rightly argued that Bennett was "rubbing salt in the wounds of the downtrodden," and "offering no grace, only blind judgment."
The "least of these" came to Tyler, Texas but Bennett decided to act like a goat. How said that this "preacher" seems so blind that he is unable to share the LOVE of Jesus.
