Here are some more stories that came out yesterday and today about the Celebration of a New Baptist Covenant:

The Waco Tribune-Herald has a really good piece that focuses on the desire to bring unity and reconciliation. In it, George W. Truett Theological Seminary professor and Celebration speaker Joel Gregory explained, "I would certainly validate and amplify the hope for racial reconciliation and, even past that, a new sense of unity in all the Baptist cultures in the country."

The Winston-Salem Journal has an article in which the Reverend David Hughes, pastor of First Baptist Church on Fifth Street in Winston-Salem, stated, "It's going to be fun to go to a large Baptist gathering that's not a war."

The Asheville Citizen-Times has a good article in which Gail Coulter, pastor of Providence Baptist Church in Hendersonville, said, "We Baptists aren't known for our willingness to work together. ... But it's the right thing to do."

Baylor University's The Lariat has a good article and a good column about the Celebration and its need in Baptist life.

It is exciting to see the Celebration getting news coverage as we seek to present a more positive and unified Baptist image.
